The Dubai World Cup is a Thoroughbred horse race held annually since 1996 at the Nad Al Sheba Racecourse in the city of Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The race is operated through the Emirates Horse Racing Authority (EHRA) whose Chairman is Sheikh Mansour bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Minister of Presidential Affairs of United Arab Emirates. The race was the creation of the Ruler of Dubai Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum who owns Darley Stud & Godolphin Racing, one of the world's leading thoroughbred breeding and racing operations. Part of the Dubai World Cup Night of races, it has a purse of USD 6 million since 2004, making it the world's richest horse race. It is a Group 1 flat race on dirt run over a distance of 2,000 metres (10 furlongs) in late March.
National Day celebrates Dubai's independence from Britain. Each year shopping malls and monuments open up to the public and host a series of events. These often include camel riding, competitions, demos & exhibitions. For 4 days expect to see daily firework displays at the Heritage Village and parades around the city.
The UAE Desert Challenge in Dubai is a rally across some of the most dramatic and demanding terrain. Drivers from all over the world race their cars, trucks and motorbikes on a five-day journey through the desert. The Dubai World Championship is a golf tournament on the European Tour that will be held for the first time from 19-22 November 2009 on the Earth course at the Jumeirah Golf Estates in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The event is the climax of the new European Tour Race to Dubai, which replaces the Order of Merit from 2009, and will be contested by the leading 60 money winners following the Hong Kong Open, with a record prize fund of $10,000,000, of which the winner's share will be $1,666,660.
The Legends Rock Dubai is the last event in the Outback Champions Series for senior tennis players. It is held each year in November in Dubai, UAE. Players who have participated in this event include Anders Jarryd, Bjorn Borg, Cedric Pioline, Guy Forget, Jim Courier, John Fitzgerald, John McEnroe, Mansour Bahrami, Michael Stich, Mikael Pernfors, Pat Cash, Paul Haarhuis, Peter McNamara, Sergi Bruguera, Stefan Edberg, Thomas Muster and Wayne Ferriera.
